SYSBUS manages end-to-end accounting software migrations for Australian businesses — from MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon to Xero. We handle data migration, payroll reconfiguration, integrations and the first BAS period so your transition is accurate and disruption-free.
Most Australian SMEs outgrow their accounting platform at some point. MYOB becomes cumbersome as transaction volumes rise. QuickBooks Online loses ground on local compliance features. When your accounting software is slowing down your month-end close, limiting remote access, or producing reports that don't give you the visibility you need, it may be time to consider a change.
A migration is not just a data export and import. Done properly, it involves a full chart-of-accounts review, opening-balance reconciliation, payroll history transfer, historical transaction mapping, and a parallel-run period to confirm the new platform matches the old. Done poorly, you end up with mismatched GST figures, broken bank reconciliations, and a messy audit trail.
A typical migration for an SME with two to five years of history takes four to eight weeks from kick-off to go-live. The phases are: scoping and data extract (weeks 1–2), chart-of-accounts mapping and clean-up (weeks 2–3), test migration and reconciliation (weeks 3–5), staff training and parallel run (weeks 5–7), and cutover with final reconciliation (weeks 7–8). Complexity increases with payroll history, inventory items, multi-currency transactions, and the number of connected integrations.
The most common mistake businesses make is treating a migration as a straightforward data export and import. A migration done without proper file cleanup, chart-of-accounts design and reconciliation sign-off can create problems that take months to unwind. The second most common mistake is migrating mid-year without a clean cut-off date, which creates a split financial year that complicates BAS lodgements and year-end tax work.
We manage the entire process: scoping call, data extract, chart-of-accounts redesign (not just a copy-paste), test migration, reconciliation sign-off, and go-live support. We also reconfigure your bank feeds, payroll settings, and any connected platforms — Shopify, Deputy, Cin7, Unleashed — so you're not starting from scratch on integrations after the migration is done.
No. We migrate your full transaction history — invoices, bills, bank transactions, and payroll records — up to the agreed cut-off date. You'll have read-only access to the old platform for 12 months after migration as a safety net.
A 1 July cut-off is cleanest, but it's not always practical. We can migrate at any point in the financial year — we just ensure the opening balances reconcile to your last BAS lodgement and that the cut-off is documented for your accountant.
Pricing depends on the volume of historical data, number of payroll employees, and connected integrations. Most SME migrations fall in the $1,500–$4,500 range. We provide a fixed-fee quote after the scoping call — no surprises.
